VA 6000s Series Perchloric Fume Extraction Cabinet


VA6000s Series Perchloric fume Extraction Cabinets - Models:

  • VA6003s = 1200mm wide with 900mm wide inner.
  • VA6004s = 1500mm wide with 1200mm wide inner.
  • VA6005s = 1800mm wide with 1500mm wide inner.
  • VA6006s 2100mm wide with 1800mm wide inner.


  • The cabinet shall offer operator protection achieved through and inward flow of laboratory air through the bottom aperture below the safety glass sash.
  • The air intake velocity shall range from not less than 0,5 m/s with the sash fully open to approximately 1.2 m/s with the sash fully closed.

Cabinet Details

Outer section:

  • The outer cabinet shall be constructed from mild steel epoxy powder coated white.
  • Stainless Steel 316 is also an offered optional (The inner liner construction material is as per the standard specification below)
  • The sides shall be 150mm wide that house all services with removable side panels for access to the services as indicated below:
  • Fan on/off switch interlocked with scrubber switch
  • Lights on/off switch
  • Scrubber on/off switch interlocked with fan switch
  • Wet and dry services tap outlets mounted on inside side panel of cabinet
  • 1 Electroplated sliding sash counter weight mounted on opposite side to taps inside side panel
  • Stainless steel wire rope mechanism to operate counter weight and incorporates PVC pulley system with inserted bearings for smooth operation
  • Nylon slides and guide system to guide front sash eliminating any lateral movement and ensuring a smooth vertical rattle free motion.
  • 1 off 16AMP plug socket either side
  • The front section of the sides shall house remote handles for the taps for both wet and dry services
  • Aerodynamically and ergonomically designed front aerofoil 316 SS for smooth airflow into the cabinet to avoid any unwanted turbulence.
  • The width of the unit shall be so that it can be passed through a standard door width and shall not exceed 720mm.

Inner section:

  • The inner casing shall be a contour moulded resin impregnated fiberglass shell, with a fully welded 316 stainless steel work surface and liner.
  • No nuts and bolts shall protrude into the work area
  • The drip cup will be recessed and sealed firmly without crevices and made from “Vulcanthene”
  • The internal baffle shall be of acid resistant resin-impregnated fiberglass and secured by polypropylene stand-offs.

Lighting Details:

  • The light shall be of a vapour proof incandescent type situated at the top of the cabinet where maximum light dispersant can be achieved.
  • The lighting shall provide a minimum of 800 LUX over the entire work surface.
  • The lighting shall be housed in an external housing and sealed off from the unit by means of a safety glass diffuser.
  • A silicone gasket will seal the diffuser from the light housing.
  • The light shall be of a vapour proof incandescent type situated at the top of the cabinet where maximum light dispersant can be achieved.

Spray System:

  • The spray nozzles are situated in the following areas:
  • At the back of the internal baffle plate is a set of 6 replaceable PVC nozzles.
  • Above the internal baffle plate is a set of 4 replaceable PVC nozzles.
  • A spray nozzle is situated inside the ductwork immediately after the fume cabinet outlet and before the top mist eliminator.
  • All water pipes leading to and from the spray nozzles and water return tank to be of PVC construction.
  • Scrubber system to be entirely manufactured from PVC materials.

Extraction System:

  • Fan to be constructed entirely from PVC with an external motor.
  • The fan shall be correctly sized according to the size and volume of the cabinet required.
  • All ductwork shall be from class 4 PVC ducting.
  • All bends and joins to be PVC sealed.
  • The ducting shall be for the sole purpose of extracting fumes and vapour from the Perchloric Acid fume cabinet only and no other duct shall be joined into or tapped from it.
  • The duct outlet shall be set to 1m above the highest point of the roof apex.
  • Any ducting other than vertical ducting will have a minimum angle of not less than 150 to ensure any moisture is completely drained from all ducting and avoiding any collection points.
  • A mist eliminator with spray nozzles to be mounted directly above the scrubber system.

Scrubber System Dosing Pump And Ph Controller (Optional):

The scrubber system will be manufactured entirely from PVC materials and include the following:

  • 6 vertically mounted spray nozzles
  • Mist eliminator on the outlet side of scrubber
  • Quick release couplings on all main supply and return water and drain pipes for ease during service or repairs
  • PVC drain sump for diluted acids
  • Low level alarm in holding sump
  • Automatic shut off valve for topping up with fresh water
  • Facility for monitoring PH levels
  • Acid proof pump correctly sized for the volume of liquid pumped and the header height to all spray nozzles
  • The PH controller will be set at a high PH of 7.5 and low PH of 4.5
  • If the PH drops it will alarm automatically allowing the dosing pump to dose at 0-3lt/H @ 10 bar, 220V, 50Hz IP65, 11W, 120 strokes/mw using a PVC head and valve PTFE Diaphragm pump which will dose an alkaline if the PH is low and an acid if the PH is high the pump will switch itself off automatically once the PH is corrected.
